Case Study – TruckIt
The goal of TruckIt was to provide a solution that connect hungry phone users to local food trucks. This app needed to allow users to create accounts, geolocate the map to their current locations, identify trucks in the area, and navigate to those trucks. Another need was to allow truck owners to create accounts, geolocate to their current locations, update the location of their trucks, and open/close directly from the app. All this was need for Android, Apple, and the Web.
We used Ionic 2 and WordPress to create a solution that is synced across three platforms: Android, Apple, and the Web. Both truck owners and regular users can create accounts directly from the app or website and perform functions seamlessly.
Since it’s release in December 2016, this app has been downloaded dozens of times between iOS and Android. It also has an average 5 Star rating. The TruckIt business team is working on expanding the app and marketing it nationwide
“Amazing concept. Been needing an app like this for years now. So smooth simple and easy! And the ability for any truck to register and get put on the map is perfect. Tell your favorite food trucks to get on board!!!” App User
Case Study – BNOrBeOut
The goal of the Beta Nu Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. was to build a mobile app that could showcase the success of the chapter and provide an avenue to attract followers. The chapter also wanted the app to be able to live stream events, sell tickets and products, and update itself automatically.
I used an open source mobile application platform called Phonegap to develop a cross platform solution, which included iOS and Android. This app is completely integrated with a wordpress website, which means that can be updated without needing to be re-uploaded to the app store.
Since it’s release in Oct 2015, this app has been downloaded hundreds between iOS and Android. It also has an average 5 Star rating. The Beta Nu Chapter has used this app to live stream the Fall 2015 New Initiate Showcase, promote parties, and sell products.
“This app is one of the most innovative steps I’ve ever seen any campus org take. People can actually get up to date info/news, purchase tix & merchandise, RSVP to events and more directly through this app. Dope!” Leonard Washington, App User
